Bode Miller was disqualified for wearing boots a fraction of an inch too high, while Jean-Baptiste Grange of France won Tuesday night's World Cup slalom. Miller finished 29th in the first of two legs but was disqualified after a random check showed the soles of his ski boots were too high by just one-hundredth of an inch, the International Ski Federation said.

Michael Vick is asking a bankruptcy judge to allow him to sell his eight-bedroom home in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth at auction. The house has been on the market for more than a year and is listed at $4.1 million. The imprisoned former NFL star disclosed the auction plans Tuesday in a new financial disclosure statement filed in his bankruptcy case in Newport News.

The New York Yankees have reeled in another prime free agent, reaching a preliminary agreement with first baseman Mark Teixeira for $180 million over eight years.  A person familiar with the negotiations disclosed the agreement, which is subject to a physical.

Mark Teixeira and the New York Yankees completed their $180 million, eight-year contract Tuesday, announcing the deal in perhaps the final event at the old Yankee Stadium. The deal was agreed to Dec. 23, but both sides had to settle contract language and the first baseman had to pass a physical. "I have yet to tap my potential," Teixeira said.

Rick Dennison served 14 seasons as Mike Shanahan's disciple, and now he wants to be his replacement. The Denver Broncos offensive coordinator met with team owner Pat Bowlen on Tuesday after expressing interest in the position following Shanahan's firing last week. Later Tuesday, the Broncos also planned to speak with Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

Rafael Nadal routed Fabrice Santoro 6-0, 6-1 Tuesday in his first ATP Tour match of the year, with Roger Federer and Andy Murray also breezing into the second round of the Qatar Open. The top-ranked Nadal needed only 46 minutes for the win, breaking Santoro three times in each set. "It was a quick start for me and that is good," Nadal said.
