In a statement game against a "we don't like them" rival, the unusual happened as Washington Capitals red overcame Philadelphia Flyers orange -- on the ice and in the stands. The Capitals did some payback Tuesday night, beating the Flyers 2-1 in a shootout to avenge the only loss they've had in a month and ease some of the sting from last year's first-round playoff series loss.

The Colorado Rockies added depth to their rotation, acquiring durable right-hander Jason Marquis from the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday for reliever Luis Vizcaino. The 30-year-old Marquis was 11-9 with a 4.53 ERA last season for the NL Central champion Cubs. The Rockies also receive cash as part of the deal.

Kay Yow once again has to leave her North Carolina State program to focus on her fight against cancer. In a statement released by the school Tuesday afternoon, the Hall of Fame coach said she will not return to the team this season due to health issues related to her battle against the disease she was first diganosed with two decades ago.
