The Wrestler

What up peoples, I just saw this movie and it’s a must see.  Sure, wrestling is the backdrop to this screenplay, but it is Mickey Rourke’s portrayal of a washed up 80’s pro wrestler who struggles to find himself as a person and a professional that underlines this film.

If you are a fan of pro wrestling, the movie is built for the hardcore purest at heart.  There are certain scenes that many marks will get right away and enjoy.

The Wrestler presents an ugly element and example of how wrestlers who don’t save their money, who did drugs and didn’t know when to hang it up suffer in the long run physically and emotionally.

It’s also a great movie because Marissa Tomei plays a stripper and she’s balllllllllin’ at age 44!

You also get to see an emotional story of between a dead beat father who tries to rekindle his daughter’s love and respect in a great performance by Evan Rachel Wood.

Ultimately this was a great movie which gained critical acclaim at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and is sure to earn more at the 2009 Golden Globes and Oscar Awards shows.

Aria Giovani is back! Remember when she taught us how to make a hardboiled egg? Well, today she’s going to show us what to do with it. Don’t worry, it’s nothing sexual you pervert. She’s just going to teach us how to make an egg salad sandwich! It’s the perfect lunch for the day after binge drinking, like after a night of New Year’s Eve partying. So have a look!

The crowd went particularly wild last night when Katie Holmes left the theatre after All My Sons. Maybe it was the increased number of tourists or simply wild Katie fans concentrated in one spot, but it’s got to feel good to hear a huge crowd screeching your name when you leave. That being said, how did the rest of the cast feel about it?

David Beckham– all in pics and with no voiceover. Wheee! I think we can probably get over Hugh Jackman’s New York departure (sob!) with something like this, don’t you? Ignoring the fact that David Beckham’s going to be in Italy until he rejoins his team in mid 2009, that is.

I can’t say I’ve been in pain over our Hugh Jackman fest lately, but sadly those days are through. We watched him pack up his car via pics yesterday, and now we’ve got it in video, too. I suppose all good things must come to an end, hmmm?

Whitney Port - The City

Pussycat Dolls -

On Top Of The World

Whitney Port’s new reality show The City is pretty much following the same format of The Hills, the equation of fashion + scripted drama + nice landscape visuals of the town = TV ratings.  Looks like the new Carrie Bradhsaw’s new show is pulling out all the stops with PCD on the theme song.
